  1. His family excuse was just that, an excuse.  He is not running because he is afraid to lose his election, lose the house, destroyed our economy with the tax cut, doesn't want to impeach Trump and his dream of eliminating entitlements is disappearing.

  2. Paul Ryan sold out the Republican party, America and the American people by passing a HUGE, $1.5 trillion tax cut that greatly benefited the wealthiest Americans while dramatically increasing the deficit to unprecedented levels. According to the CBO, Paul Ryan's tax cuts will increase the deficit over the next decade and the deficit will be $1.6 trillion larger than previously projected. By 2028, the national debt would total 96 percent of GDP.

Paul Ryan has called for fiscally responsible government and tax reform during his entire tenure in Congress and when the opportunity arose, he failed to commit to fiscally responsible tax reform and decided to settle for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and big money donors!

Tax reform is designed to be revenue neutral, meaning that any tax cuts within a tax reform bill are offset by reducing tax liability programs and by design does not increase the National deficit. Whereas, tax cuts only reduce the amount of tax revenue flowing into the government coffers which increases the National deficit. Paul Ryan and the supposed fiscally responsible Republican Congress settled for the latter.

The CBO report said that such high and rising debt will have serious negative consequences for the budget and for the nation," To pay for the HUGE tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, Paul Ryan says Congress needs to cut entitlement programs, principally Social Security, Medicare and healthcare provided by the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.

Paul Ryan lead the campaign to give HUGE tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans all the while claiming to be fiscally responsible. Paul Ryan's tax cuts that disproportionately benefits the wealthiest Americans is FISCALLY IRRESPONSIBLE!

Remember when Paul Ryan kept saying that Obamacare was a disaster? Paul Ryan and the Republican members of Congress lied to the American people about the benefits of Obamacare because they wanted to convince the American people that Obamacare was terrible so they could abolish Obamacare and use that money to offset the HUGE tax cuts they planned to give the wealthiest Americans.

It is easy for a government employee like Paul Ryan to say we need to abolish the affordable care act and take health insurance away from millions of Americans when he, as a government employee, is covered by a completely separate healthcare program that is reserved only for government employees. That program is the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program which is a system of "managed competition" through which employee health benefits are provided to civilian government employees. This government employee only healthcare program also covers pre-existing conditions without any limitations, which the Republican Congress said was too expensive for Americans and fought to remove from Obamacare.

The government employer pays an amount up to 72 percent of the average plan premium and yet Paul Ryan and the Republican controlled Congress defamed Obamacare and worked mightily to convince the American people that Obamacare was to expensive and bad for them all the while lavishing in their own quality healthcare program that is affordable!

Ask yourself why the FEHB statute is only a few dozen pages long, and only a few paragraphs are devoted to the structure and functioning of the program, and regulations are minimal; adding only another few dozen pages. While the Medicare statute found in title 18 of the Social Security Act is about 400 pages long and the accompanying regulations consume thousands of pages in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations.

The Medicare statute should not need to be any longer than the FEHB statute!

The Medicare statute may just be so long, complicated and regulation intensive because it is designed to protect the insurance companies more than it is designed to provide coverage to the insured. It appears that the insurance company lobbyists in tandem with the Republican members of Congress have effectively burdened Medicare with unnecessary regulations which Congress would not allow to be put into the FEHB insurance program.`

Paul Ryan's plan for government was to cut taxes for the richest Americans and pay for those tax cuts by reducing the benefits of programs that he labeled as entitlement programs and by taking affordable healthcare away from millions of hard working Americans.

Paul Ryan FAILED his constituents, America and the American people as a whole!

Paul Ryan's legacy as a member of Congress will be that he was an enemy to the average American and a hero to the wealthiest Americans.

  3. I was reading the news this morning about speaker Paul Ryan’s retirement and it reminded me of a PC game called Abandon Ship. The strategy of the game reminded me of the presidency in its current state🤔 the strategy of the game is to: take command of a ship and her crew. engaging other ships in combat, by employing the best tactics in order to out-manoeuvre and out-gun the enemy. #2 Life can be brutal. Death is permanent. As long as the Captain is alive, there is always hope. By escaping you have a chance to survive and fight your way back to the top. Each battle is hard-fought, always on the edge of defeat. Your only chance of overcoming the odds is to employ every advantage you can and utilise all the tools at your disposal.

  4. That’s the game plan to get rich, suck up to people in a congressional district, get elected any way you can, change the laws to help the rich whilst becoming rich yourself, then get out before you get in trouble and live your life as one of the wealthy. Too bad for his constituents in his home state who have been fooled and stay relatively poor or become poorer, but he got his so who cares? Ayn rand 101. Of course we can’t all do this, it’s impossible to all be wealthy but that’s what you get for being stupid or moral or a pushover, you get the shaft!

  5. “No one with this kind of power just walks away.“ But isn’t that exactly what John Boehner did? And the guy who was in the running to take his place, who suddenly pulled out of the running? It is kind of an awful job, although it is unquestionably worse when you’re working for President Trump.
