  1. Blindly thinking they are the best country in the world. That's pathetic! One who knows nothing about the world can't be the best. There is no BEST COUNTRY!
And by the way I live in a free country, why wasn't I eligible to vote for a leader of this free bubble he's talking about?!

  2. He was not elected to be leader of the free world, US is not the greatest country in world. That line really needs to stop and stop now . Until the US does it will never take a real hard look at fixing everything that is going wrong there.

  3. We are not the best country on Earth, we aren't even top ten. We don't have healthcare. The police are killing civilians daily. Anyone who isn't white, upper middle class, and male is oppressed, depressed, and repressed. We are not allowed to unionize, but we are despised for not acquiring wealth.

  4. I think it's because we get the short straw on trade deals, we can't keep up subsidizing other economies. He is trying to make peace with North Korea so that maybe that country will become inclusive and less isolated. Is that too hard to understand?

  5. Given his remark to photographers in North Korea to make him look "handsome and thin," it's clear that a weekend with dream-beaux Trudeau and Macron really left ole Trump feeling self-conscious and jealous of their looks — but maybe just a bit slimmer compared to Kim.

  6. Like theses Americans always forget, that only the "greates country on earth" is still the only country which used biological, chemical and nuclear weapons of mass destruction. The US is always ignoring the International humanitarian law or any kind of international law or the UN security council when it is in their favor and Trump is just kind a honest about it. He just forgets that the US hegemony is bought with trade deficits. And the US troops are still in the Federal Republik of Germany, because there is no peace treaty and Germany is still occupied by the USA!

  7. Great role model for democracy? Insanely expensive elections, backroom deals with super PACs, lack of concern over lies, electoral college superseding the popular vote? Yeah. No. Our process is corrupt with the veil of being clean.

  8. “We are the best country in the world”. No. No. No. You’re not. You have to face reality and stop telling yourselves that repeatedly, it’s unhealthy.

You used to be a great nation, deserving of the title “Leader of the Free World”, but at some point, too many of you started taking what your forefathers and foremothers have built for granted and stopped maintaining and contributing to it, basking in a glory you did not earn, taking credit for their accomplishments, thus eroding that greatness instead of being a part of it.

It reminds me, sharply, of Tom Robbins’ quote on the instability of ideas (a great quote for perspective):

“…ideas are definitely unstable, they not only CAN be misused, they invite misuse–and the better the idea the more volatile it is. That's because only the better ideas turn into dogma, and it is this process whereby a fresh, stimulating, humanly helpful idea is changed into robot dogma that is deadly. In terms of hazardous vectors released, the transformation of ideas into dogma rivals the transformation of hydrogen into helium, uranium into lead, or innocence into corruption. And it is nearly as relentless.

The problem starts at the secondary level, not with the originator or developer of the idea but with the people who are attracted by it, who adopt it, who cling to it until their last nail breaks, and who invariably lack the overview, flexibility, imagination, and most importantly, sense of humor, to maintain it in the spirit in which it was hatched. Ideas are made by masters, dogma by disciples, and the Buddha is always killed on the road.

There is a particularly unattractive and discouragingly common affliction called tunnel vision, which, for all the misery it causes, ought to top the job list at the World Health Organization. Tunnel vision is a disease in which perception is restricted by ignorance and distorted by vested interest. Tunnel vision is caused by an optic fungus that multiplies when the brain is less energetic than the ego. It is complicated by exposure to politics. When a good idea is run through the filters and compressors of ordinary tunnel vision, it not only comes out reduced in scale and value but in its new dogmatic configuration produces effects the opposite of those for which it originally was intended.

That is how the loving ideas of Jesus Christ became the sinister cliches of Christianity. That is why virtually every revolution in history has failed: the oppressed, as soon as they seize power, turn into the oppressors, resorting to totalitarian tactics to "protect the revolution." That is why minorities seeking the abolition of prejudice become intolerant, minorities seeking peace become militant, minorities seeking equality become self-righteous, and minorities seeking liberation become hostile (a tight asshole being the first symptom of self-repression).”

― Tom Robbins, Still Life with Woodpecker

You’ve become disciples instead of being masters… You used to be an example to the world. Now, you’re becoming a cautionary tale.

Today, like a cancer thought to be in remission coming back with a vengeance, your president represents everything that’s ugly about America, all the deplorables that we (you and me, both) thought were of a dying breed.

The longer Trump and his enablers stay in power, the more what’s left of your country (especially what’s good and beautiful – from the institutions that protect your freedom to the healthy values and ideals that put them in place) deteriorates…

No, you’re not the greatest country in the world. Stop deluding yourselves.

Now, what are you going to do about it…?

Thanks for reading. Take care, my friends.

  9. French here. Chris Matthews should get his facts straight about my country. "France had 5 republic, we have the one we started with". When we "change" republic, it doesn't mean that we switch to monarchy and then go back to republic. I simply means that we change the constitution.
For us, a republic is a living thing. We don't treat a constitution like a sacred text never to be changed, but as a piece of legislation for the people. We changed it 5 times since 1792. We had some real change of regime after the Revolution, but the last 3 republics are changes wanted by people and voted accordingly.

  10. Republicans can retire and talk honestly because there will be no repercussions while the Democrats have to lie till they are dead because the media the deep state Hollywood and every freakin monster will come for them if they fall out of line.

  11. Actually, Erich Honecker wanted his regime to be first acknowledged and thus legitimized by West Germany and then by the US. By being invited to a state visit by Helmut Kohl to West Germany, he got the first part covered. He didnt like the US or thought of it as the best country in the world. Was all a political thing.

Same with Kim Jong Un. He wants to be met on the same level as trump. And trump gave him that.

  12. Nowhere near the greatest…

    A better place to live.
According to , the world is becoming a better place to live. …

1 Norway. Norway ranked highest in standard of living, life expectancy, and education, 13 times in a row. …

    2 Australia. …

    3 Switzerland. …

    4 Germany. …

    5 Denmark. …

    6 Singapore. …

    7 The Netherlands

USA doesn't make the top 10 nor the 2017 list top 10

  13. Trump’s aspirations are to turn this country into a dictatorship. Everything he does is by the dictator playbook. Even the way his base worships him is very typical of this setup. He wanted a private meeting with Kim. That is not to influence Kim, but to get an ally for when he unveils his true motives to the world. Come on people. The fact people don’t see this shows just how well Trump figured where people out.

  14. Trump will only make the world safer if him & Putin don't collude with China & North Korea or some other dictator ran countries in some evil ways & IF HE DOESN'T COMPLETELY ALIENATE OUR DEMOCRATIC ALLIES!! WAKE UP REAL AMERICANS BELIEVE IN DEMOCRACY NOT DICTATORS!!

  15. Republicans brought this asshole to the party and watched him vomit everywhere. Now they’re walking out the door with our belongings while we scrub puke off the furniture. As they leave they warn us not to call the cops.

  16. Who cares really, Chris Matthews hates Trump. Like all MSM, so tell other countries too shove it. We do not need them. Also, when in the hell have we ever been in a combative war with Russia? NEVER! So why do does this propaganda exist? And why are liberals so determined too see Trump fail. And Matthews? When has he negotiated with any foreign leaders? HA,HA,HA, why do people who don't know jack-shit experts?

  17. I am so sick of hearing Americans claiming the US is the greatest country in the world. Based on what exactly? Is there a template or formula for this? Do you think residents of other countries agree? I call BS! Racism, death penalty, Trump for president, NRA, school shootings, Bernie Madoff. In a nutshell.
